Holiday Parties

I know when we think Holiday parties we think of a bunch of adults, having a party while the kids are upstairs in bed. Well lets get them involved, section off a kids side of the party where they can have some fun and you never know the adults may just want to join theirs because it will definitely be more fun.

Heck maybe you want to have the kids party a few days before the adults party or after, just so they can have their own.  Either way  having a holiday party should be great fun.

Any Holiday can become a great party.

Halloween - spookify your home, or if you have a basement make that the party room there kinda spooky right from the start so not much decorating to do.

Christmas - This is always a great holiday to have a party for specially if you can get somebody to dress up as Santa for the kids.

Easter - This one has so many possibility's, Have a huge scavenger hunt, egg eating contest, or egg decorating contest , egg toss. make it a costume party where the kids come dressed up as rabbits.

Thanksgiving - Yes this is usually a family holiday but make it a PARTY, have it set up so the kids can have some fun, heck make the game part of the fun.

As you can see Holidays can be the perfect opportunity for a party, even if its just friends and family.

You know the neighbors next door  that you keep meaning to get to know a little better, well a holiday party is a good way to get to know a neighbor.

Just remember prep time is definitely going to be needed for these parties, becuase normally these will be your largest parties, You know your brother Joe is inevitably going to show up with his girlfriend, even tho he wasn't going to cum and aunt Susy just got married to a guy who's ex decided that he could have the kids this holiday so there are going to be a few extra people who may show up.

So extra food is a good idea, and if you get everyone to bring their specialty plate that everyone in the family loves well that will help.

Holiday Ideas for the kids party

While Each holiday will have its own feel to it  and activities it may be a little difficult at first to come up with some ideas. I did a quick brief overview above but lets give the most common Holidays a little closer look Shall we.

Christmas - A favorite holiday of children, maybe not so much for adults with the stress levels, So I really suggest this one be kept very simple and if its for the kids keep it small, or just a family party.

Make decorating the tree part of the fun, have them make a new decoration for the tree (this is actually a great tradition) , Have Christmas movies and stories ready, and if you want to drive them crazy sing songs.

If you can Have Santa stop by and see if the kids been good, or bad (make sure you give the Santa a specific Happening with each kid he can mention this works great with younger children)

Halloween - this is one of my personal favorite holidays, turn the home into a spook house, make the party a costume party, have a costume contest , have some great rewards for best costume, best homemade costume and so on.  Have plenty of candy because that's what Halloween is partially about.

Have movies and games like pin the hat on the witch, of cast the spell through the hoop ( basically toss a ball through a  hood, ring or something. If you can get a magician to show up and show off some magic tricks this will go great. Food and drinks should all be semi spooky like skinned werewolf fingers on a bun (hot dogs Yumm) or how about some spooky ghosts on a plate ( mash potato's  with couple raisins for eyes do try to get a ghost shape if you can)

Easter - I did mention lots of activities but many of them will need to be out side but here they are again :
Have a huge scavenger hunt, egg eating contest, or egg decorating contest , egg toss. make it a costume party where the kids come dressed up as rabbits. Make this party a potluck if you can deffinitly help on  food if you plan on a lot of people. Of course don't forget  the Easter egg hunt.

I want to also mention right now any day can be a great day for a party  doesn't need to be a holiday could be a rainy day party call up a few friends on a rainy day and have some fun, make it the hottest day of the year party doesn't matter, any times a great time for a party ask any Kid or Guy they know.
